Meet the Owners

Welcome to Radius! Our goal is to serve you the best tasting gourmet pizzas, eclectic comfort-food entrees, salads and sandwiches in a welcoming, relaxed, family-friendly restaurant & bar. Whenever possible, we source as many ingredients from our own community and the counties surrounding Hillsborough. We use a natural fermentation process on our pizza dough and bake every pizza in our wood-fired brick oven.

A little bit of history…

My name is Kate Carroll and I grew up in Durham, North Carolina. I developed my love of fresh food prepared creatively from my family. My mom taught me the importance of composting and gardening and cooking was a passion for many members of my family — Nana’s pies were legendary, Dad’s Chinese stir-fries were mouthwatering and darn near everything my mom made was worth a 2nd helping. After graduating from East Carolina University, I moved to San Francisco. Planning on staying one summer; the food, geography, entrepreneurial opportunities and artist communities kept me in the Bay Area for another 18 years. And luckily for me it did because it was there I met my husband, Mick Carroll. We married in 2001 and in 2010 we had our twin boys, Ronan & Wyatt, and decided to move back home.

My name is Mick Carroll and I grew up in a tiny village on the northwest coast of Ireland. My dad, my three brothers and I worked our 60 acres to provide as much food as possible for our cattle, sheep, lambs, chickens and ducks. “Farm to table” was 365 for us and we grew a wide range of fruits and vegetables for our family. As a small boy, my mum taught me how to baked breads in our turf burning oven and that started my fascination with cooking. At 19, I won a scholarship to study Culinary Arts in Gap, France, which fueled my passion for more culinary training and experiences. I graduated from Ireland’s Killibegs Culinary College, trained in classical French cuisine and I’ve worked in large fine dining and small restaurants, hotels and corporate food services in Dublin and Cong, Ireland, Chicago and San Francisco. In 2001, my life changed for better when I met Kate. She and I make the best team I could ever imagine. We thank you for your patronage.

Our philosophy:

  • We believe gourmet food doesn’t have to be expensive or fussy.

  • We believe every employee deserves to work in a fun and supportive workplace.

  • We believe children and adults can dine together in a relaxed, happy environment.
